Are there any developmental problems in children with DGAT1 mutations?
Children who have been very ill for a prolonged period of time in infancy may experience some developmental issues, but most children with DGAT1 related disease appear to have normal development. Since this is a newly recognized disorder monitoring children as they get older will provide additional information about any problems that might arise in the future.
What happens if my child gets too much fat in their diet?
Children who are receiving too much fat in their diet usually get diarrhea. They may also not grow well or lose weight.
